Unscheduled Toilet Stop

Hat tip to Wagga for this find:
THE run of bad luck afflicting Qantas took a graphic turn last night when a fully loaded 767 flying from Sydney to Perth was forced to stage an unplanned landing in Adelaide so its toilets could be emptied.

Flight staff on QF571 told passengers that Sydney ground staff had forgotten to empty the toilets on the 767-300, which originated in Honolulu.

By the time the flight had been in the air for an hour, three of the toilets had ceased to function.

"They told us that under any reasonable calculation, the rest of them would go pretty quickly," one businessman told the Herald during the plane's cleaning stop in Adelaide.

"Four out of seven toilets were not flushing so for the comfort of our passengers we diverted to Adelaide," a Qantas spokeswoman said.

Passengers were "exasperated", the businessman said, but otherwise resigned to the delay.

"All this discussion of toilets triggered an urgent need to go in just about everyone," he said.

"We did ask for more red wine to be brought on board, but it was felt not to be a priority."

The unscheduled Qantas toilet stop comes only hours after the national carrier was forced to delay Sydney-bound QF2 from London for more than 15 hours after a problem with its rudder.

Casey Serin's Toilet

Hat tip to our namesake Edgar for the image upload, because I have exceeded my limit and Casey’s new blog will probably implode soon enough.

WARNING: Never turn to Casey Serin for financial advice. In fact, it is generally best to assume he is a barometer of sorts to remind you What Not to Do.

"It was like the toilet had given birth"

When it comes to toilets, there's a simple directional rule: everything goes downstream. When things move against the tide, then you have problems.

So as Tim Fraser was doing some laundry in his bathroom last Friday night, he became a wee bit disturbed when his toilet started spontaneously gurgling.

"I could see bubbles coming up and I thought 'what the the hell is happening?'" he said, recalling that evening.

Then he caught sight of a grey, furry head with a pair of pointy ears and saucepan eyes emerging on this side of the s-bend.

Moments later there was a half-drowned possum sitting in his Fowler toilet bowl.

"It was like the toilet had given birth," he said.

It's not clear who was more startled, man or marsupial. But Fraser was first to react. He darted to the next room and collected his digital camera.

Demons in my toilet

Kent, England (AHN) — A Kent librarian who claims a ghost has been flushing his library’s toilet is seeking the help of an exorcist in having the unwanted spirit evicted. A 14-year librarian at the Gravesend Library, Gordon Jenns, 61, says the ghost flushes the toilet when he thinks everyone’s gone home. (via My Hero of the Day.)

This guy, perhaps?

Clogging Toilet Escape

The Collection by ~Veruka-Shy

Inmate Escapes Clogging Toilet
A genius inmate escaped from a work-release crew after he created a distraction with an overflowing toilet, authorities said. Wayne Mitchell, 24, was in the Clark County Jail for a probation-violation warrant, but had been working with a crew clearing roadside trash.

When the crew stopped at the Clark County Fraternal Order of Police lodge to eat lunch, Mitchell went into a restroom and clogged a toilet, causing it to overflow, police said. He then came out saying he needed some towels from the jail's van to sop up the mess.

"The toilet overflowed and the rest of the inmates were trying to clean it up," said Maj. Chuck Adams of the Clark County Sheriff's Department.

Instead of going to the van, Mitchell walked to nearby G&R Auto Sales, where an employee gave him the keys to a car he said he wanted to look over, police said. Police said he then stole a red 1995 Chevrolet Camaro convertible.

Officers later found Mitchell's jail-issued clothes at the dealership, about 15 miles north of Louisville, Ky.
